When you’ve decided it’s time to remodel or upgrade your bathroom, it’s tempting to focus on selecting your dream fixtures and tile selection, but that approach will lead to remodeling hassles and a hurt wallet.
In our years of experience remodeling custom bathrooms, we have learned that there five key considerations. If you follow them, you can turn your bathroom redesign into a faster, less costly process with more pleasing results.

STYLE: Your bathroom should match both the style of your home and your design preferences. A clash of styles in your bathroom would look out-of -place with the predominant style of your home. Although there are at least 15 styles we have identified. The most used styles are: modern, contemporary, traditional, transitional, rustic and craftsman styles. When in doubt, go with contemporary styles and clean lines and choose inviting colors that will continue to be popular years from now.

Besides the chosen style; there are four major technical/design aspects to consider in a bathroom remodeling. Not paying attention to the four considerations described below could be detrimental to achieve a well- designed bathroom. These usually occurs when bathrooms are constructed by unexperienced contractors and without design and/or poor planning. Our design team will assure your success in your next bathroom remodeling.

SPACE: Some homeowners are are lucky to have large bathrooms and space available to transform their bathrooms. Others have small square footage in their bathroom,

Knowing your space limitations from the beginning gives you a better idea of what’s feasible. At the end of your remodeling project you don’t want to end up with an oversized tub and because of that you have to walk sideways to step in to get to the toilet or any other possible issue with dimensions.

LAYOUT: If not properly planned; some remodels can make a bathroom worse. If a room is poorly laid out to begin with, simply replacing the fixtures with today’s larger models could make the room more confined, non-useful and cramped. Before you start, consider how you use the bathroom, especially whether you need a separate shower and tub and a one-sink or two-sink vanity. Consider clearances and dimensions in order to align the proper ergonomics and functioning with your needs, desires and wishes.

LIGHTING: Is your bathroom dark and does not have natural light? Many bathrooms do not have the luxury of having natural light. If so, the proper lighting design is very important. Have you tried to shave or apply makeup with a single over the sink bulb? Recessed lighting is popular in modern bathrooms, but you should also install ample light over the shower and vanity. Also it is important to understand the color of light fixtures with the paint color. Yellow lights and white lights illuminate differently and can have results when looking at your skin tone or color of your makeup in the mirror. The best advice is to obtain a combination that produces natural light.

MAINTENANCE: No one enjoys cleaning the bathroom. By choosing surfaces and fixtures that resist stains, mold, and water marks to make maintenance less frequent and cleaning easier is desired.
It is important to maintain a maintenance program for your bathroom in regards to caulking, grout sealing, countertop sealing and maintaining your fixtures. Send us an email or call us.
